Asus Eee PC 701 & 900 Batteries

Eee 900s originally shipped in the UK with 4400mAh battery whilst buyers in other countries were fortunate to get a longer lasting 5800mAh battery. According to Asus this is because UK buyers get a two year warranty with their Eees as opposed to one year in other countries.

Naturally this has not pleased British punters and Asus have now agreed to swap old 4400mAh batteries for new 5800mAh models for a payment of £11.75. At the time of writing it is believed you need to contact Asus directly to arrange a battery exchange.

Asus have release a bios update for the Eee 900 that is reported to extend the battery life by up to 30mins. Go to the Download section of the Asus Support web site to download the latest bios rom file. You will also need to download the AFUDOS Utility from the same place.
